mcdill sunrise 12x36 pc

As a local resident who has travelled throughout the US, Canada and overseas, I can attest to the beauty that exists here in central Wisconsin. We are daily surrounded by a diversity in landscape, plant and creature that is unlike any place else. With are variety of seasons, adequate moisture (most of the time), and lush vegetation we live in a paradise most of us take for granted. We enjoy an abundance of clean waters for recreation and fishing, wooded forests to camp, hike and hunt, and a wonderful winter season allowing us to ski and snowmobile. We are truely lucky to live in this place.

That is why I'm so excited to annouce that Pete Sanderson is Koerten's September featured artist. His photographic images capture Central Wisconsin in a beautiful light and clarity rarely seen by the naked eye, let alone the camea lens. He strives to capture the simple beauty that surrounds us daily. That same beauty we so often overlook or take for granted. Not only does Pete capture the scenery and landscapes that make this area so special, he manages to capture the pure essence of this place. A magical, indescribable quality that exists here. That first crisp breath on a frosty autumn morning, The warming promise of sunrise on an early spring day. The inner warmth of soul at the site of a fresh heavy winter snow. These are the things that Pete Sanderson's images evoke.

If you've never experienced Pete's work, now is the time. His offerings range from dramatic oversized prints to simple notecards. And his images are just as varied. From raging spring rivers swollen with runoff, to the late afternoon sun dancing across rolling farm fields, there is a scene for just about anyone.

Pete will be at Koerten's on September 15th to share his techniques and his process from shutter to fine art print. Stop in and experiene what make Pete's work so spectacular. I look forward to sharing the magic with you!

Jerry Gadamus is our May featured local artist. If you are not familiar with Jerry, here some background. Jerry is an area wildlife artist who graduated from our very own UW - Stevens Point. He's been painting almost as long as we've been custom framing. He paints in a very unique free-hand airbrush technique. When most people hear airbrush, they think of the personalized t-shirts and signs you buy at theme parks. Think again. Jerry uses no stencils or masks when he paints, and his paintings are far different from the cutesy items I mentioned above. See for yourself:
